Saab Scholarships

Saab Systems actively supports the training of young engineers. To this end we have worked with the three main universities in South Australia and also local high schools to ensure that Saab scholarships, prizes and work experience opportunities are available to scholars studying degree courses relevant to the career paths offered by Saab Systems.

The Saab Systems Women in Engineering Scholarship
The Saab Systems Women in Engineering Scholarship is offered to highlight and promote Engineering related careers for females as well as assisting one outstanding applicant to pursue a dynamic and challenging career.

This scholarship is offered to a female student in Year 12 looking to study a degree in software engineering; computer systems engineering; electrical and electronic engineering; or information technology and telecommunications engineering. The scholarship offers $1,500 per year over a four year period, as well as mentoring over the four years and paid work experience during third year. Applications close at 5pm on the second Friday in November.

Adelaide University Scholarship
The Saab Systems Adelaide University Engineering Scholarship is offered to one high academic achiever studying an approved degree course at Adelaide University. This scholarship is applied for during 1st year and is awarded early in 2nd year to a student in one of the following courses: Software Engineering; Computer Science; Mathematical & Computer Science; Computer Systems Engineering; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; or Telecommunications Engineering.

The scholarship offers $2,000 per year over a three year period or $1,500 over a four year period for those students wishing to complete their Masters. Mentoring from an experienced Saab staff member is also an integral addition to this scholarship as well as the opportunity for paid work experience during third year.

Saab Systems representatives visit the University mid year to outline working at Saab and to provide details on the scholarship. At the beginning of the second year of study, the University and Saab Systems identify a suitable recipient based on academic results and the enthusiasm shown by the student to act as an ambassador for the company during study and to work in our Company on graduation.

 

University of South Australia Scholarship

The Saab Systems Computer Systems Engineering Scholarship is offered to one high academic achiever with recognized potential studying an approved degree course at the University of South Australia. This scholarship is awarded at the end of the first semester to a 1st year student of: Computer Systems Engineering; electronic and Micro Engineering; Telecommunications Engineering; or Electrical and Mechatronic Engineering.

The scholarship offers $1,500 per year over a four year period. Mentoring from an experienced Saab staff member is an integral addition to this scholarship as well as the opportunity for paid work experience during 3rd year.

Mechanisms on how to apply are made available through the University. The university provides Saab Systems with the opportunity to participate in the selection of a recipient.

Flinders University Prizes
Saab Systems has made available two prizes to Flinders University students.

[1] Saab Systems Academic Achievement Award

Awarded to two outstanding students who achieved academic excellence during 2nd year while studying either: Computer Systems Engineering; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Computer and Electronic Engineering; or Software Engineering.

The prize consists of $500 and a 20 week block of paid work experience starting in July and finishing before Christmas during 3 rd year. The prize is awarded at a presentation held in November each year.

[2] Saab Systems Engineering Excellence Award

Awarded to a 4th year student for engineering excellence for the end of year project. The prize consists of $3,500 to a student (or group of students combined) and is awarded at the presentation ceremony held in November of each year. Students must be studying one of the following approved degree courses: Computer Systems Engineering; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Computer and Electronic Engineering; or Software Engineering.
