| Systems to benefit the wider community Saab is taking on the challenge of bringing to market cost effective, robust systems to create a safer society through the protection of people, businesses, energy and information flows by simplyfying intelligence for real time decisions.
Saab is broadening its reach into civil security solutions by developing products to revolutionise the management of crises, natural diasters and the protection of public resources. By combining our in-depth knowledge of Systems Integration with society's demands for higher levels of security, Saab can now offer solutions in many areas of civil security. Saab has developed the Network-Centric Security (NCS) concept to enhance security and lower costs. This technology is based on Saab's extensive experience with integration of complex sensor networks and command and control systems. NCS allows integration of existing sensor networks into a real-time command system to manage security team workflow and improve efficiency. Typical installations include airports, sea ports, power plants, prisons and major public venues. Saab is also at the forefront of demand-side management, being the first Australian company to develop a direct load control system to eliminate energy overloading as consumer electricity demands continue to increase. South Australia is believed to have the worst case of electricity peaking in the world creating major blackouts through summer. ETSA Utilities, South Australia's electricity manager, is now trialling our system across four Adelaide suburbs this summer and we expect it will be expanded upon its success. Remote Australian's only have our national radio broadcast network to warn of bushfire, flood and other threat. Livestock, property and personal safety cannot rely on radio 24/7 ... the 'bush telegraph' is more reliable. Our emergency warning system notifies graziers, rural and regional residents via a low-energy installed module in the home, car or portable clip on belt. It is only audible when it needs to be. Our 'wearable command unit' is a communication system which will dramatically change the way emergency services manage crisis situations. Imagine a dashboard picture streaming real-time video of a volatile situation, overlayed with topographical map information when access proves difficult and weather patterns information. Units connect via voice, messaging or live video. We are building systems which will make it easier for authorities to save life, secure property and maintain our lifestyle.
