Ground based air defence

RBS 70 is a state-of-the-art short range air defence system. It is currently in service with over 20 countries and operating on all continents in arctic, desert and tropical environments. Here in Australia , Saab has developed a real-time Tactical Command and Control System – TaCCS – for RBS 70.

The RBS 70 fire unit, developed by Saab Bofors Dynamics, is a complete missile system able to integrate with most wheeled and tracked vehicles. It is superior to other man-portable air defence missile systems because of its long intercept range and its unmatched performance against head-on targets.

To further increase RBS 70's capability, we developed TaCCS which networks multiple radars to produce a correlated local air picture, classifies threats and assigns the most appropriate weapons to undertake the engagement. This automatic process digitally broadcasts target allocation and cueing to multiple weapon sites dramatically increasing the time available to react to the threat.

TaCCS has been delivered as scheduled to the Australian Army along with a comprehensive training and support package.
